Ron Jeremy Warns Kids About Porn
By Joanne Cachapero
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Porn icon Ron Jeremy is featured in a commercial with “Pete the Porn Puppet” warning children to avoid looking at porn. The spot was created after Jeremy was approached by XXX Church founder Craig Gross and can be viewed at the church’s website.
“I did it because I thought it was a good message for kids,” Jeremy told XBIZ. “We’re not looking for kids to watch porn. So, we’re trying to make this really above board and be very careful, so that kids can’t access porn. We’re not like Camel cigarettes with advertising billboards outside of schools. They have lock boxes in hotels and people’s homes, so that kids can’t see porn.”
In the commercial, Jeremy speaks to Pete the Porn Puppet, emphasizing that sexually explicit material is for adults, not for children. The puppet was invented by XXX Church to send a message to children warning them about pornography.

Someone should make these guys major in child psychology before they can open their big mouths. Anytime you make something forbidden, it enhances the desire to see it. Not just by kids, by *everyone*. It's natural curiosity.

I'm amazed!
Date: 2007-07-20 02:03 am (UTC)Nobody could explain to me what the danger really is, though. I used to teach 8-10 year old kids programming and they would browse on the internet instead and look at porn, and I had no clue how to explain why they shouldn't. Instead of blabbering at them in funny voices, kids should know the real reasons. Maybe even have them see some mildly erotic picture to demonstrate, that the danger is real. Or is it?

He's speaking out against minors seeing porn, which is illegal. Telling people not to do illegal things seems pretty reasonable to me.
