[livejournal.com profile] girtygrin brings us a video from 1990, which talks about "The Amazing Internet", and how it is a "grid of computers", or a "giant switchboard", and how you "need a computer and a phone". It's kinds neat to look back on what people knew of the Internet 15+ years ago.

Enjoy!

I wrote a (published!) article about the internet in 1991; I should scan and post it. Unfortunately, it's in Esperanto. :)

So you sit down and say "What do you think of the Raiders" and thus the first flame war is born.

I saw this several years ago.
I remember 'internet' in the early 90s though, and like it says in the package, a higher percentage of people were a lot nicer back then.

Hah! That's pretty awesome! Very interesting.

Check this out sometime.. it's a documentary from the 70's about networking. It's interesting to hear their theories on where networking will take us in the future...

I bet none of them expected it to be like it is today :P

It's amazingly accurate for a news report. Oh wait, it's from Canadian TV.

I like the comment at the end about the US looking into regulating the internet, and Canada not, and that borders still count for something.

I wonder how much longer that will be the case...

At least he didn't see the Internet is a 'series of tubes'.

Interesting tidbit, though. And they said a growth rate of 10% a month?
