I had a fun weekend. [livejournal.com profile] omnibahumut and [livejournal.com profile] whitefeet stopped by and we hung out, drank, and played Nintendo Wii. They played Nintendo Strikers, and I wisely chose NOT to play, after seeing Whitefeet wipe the playing field with Omni.

Anyway, on the way to my apartment, the first thing we stumbled across was this little sign:

WARNING Transcontinental Cable Route

It was sitting in the trash at the train station, so that makes it fair game. I hope that it was in the trash because it was replaced with a newer sign...

Next, I made friends with Balvenie, a fine 12-year single malt scotch:

The Balvenie

It was the first time that I actually made use of the Single Malt Scotch Bible that is in the scotch aisle at the local liquor store. I'll tell you, the liquor stores here in PA may be state controlled, but they've done a good job of increasing the booze selection over recent years.

Finally, on Sunday night, Omni and I hit the local IHOP for some food. While there, I took a picture of this sign:

IHOP Warning

Yes, it really says that. I sorta have this image in my head of someone turning a chair upside down and impaling 4 babies on it. Of course, that would be Just Wrong. Yeah... I see an LJ icon from that pic, though!

In other news, I've spent most of the rest of my evenings and weekends at the gym. Not only am I getting my moneys' worth from my gym membership, but it's a great way to burn off stress in a productive way.

That's all the news in my life for now!

You've never seen that? some of the wooden high-chairs can be turned upside down and used to support one of those baby-baskets that suburban moms always drag their kids around in. Dunno why folks do that, as it looks terribly unsafe.

Apparently not. Either that, or I saw it but it didn't register. Having kids isn't exactly something I'm planning on doing. :-P

(The thought of my DNA carrying on into a new generation should scare the bejeezus out of most people!)

At least IHOP is smart enough to put that sign up.

My old establishment had an anal corporate office that wouldn't give me approval to post a similar sign. Even if it kept the valid lawsuit count low.

Whatever. That place sucked. :)

I like the wording of that sign. "They cannot be turned upside down." It makes me want to say "Wanna bet?" and turn one upside down just to be defiant. ;)

I've never actually seen one used upside down. Nice score on the buried cable sign, though. "transcontinental". whoah!

It's actually on an Amtrak line which runs from Philly to Chicago, so yeah...

It could run further, but I never looked for train tickets further. :-)

You can take the train from Chi-town down here to St. Louis. :^)

Is that the top of Kovu's head under the scotch bottle? It sure looks like it. ;)

The last photo reminds me of the ancient saying:

Nothing can be made foolproof because fools are so ingenious.

You know the funnier thing about that IHOP sign? In order for the company to post the sign, just think of the stupid idiot out there that obviously tried to use it the wrong way first...
