But seriously, the situation isn't quite that dire. :-) We expect some cancellations in late April/early May right before the one night deposit is charged, so that should free up some rooms. Also, The Westin has a waiting list, if you would like to be contacted as rooms become available.

Finally, there are other hotels nearby that may be worth investigating. However, we do not currently have room block contracts with any of those hotels and cannot guarantee any rates for our membership.

After the period of cancellations and deposits pass in late April/early May, we will re-evaluate the situation and examine the feasibility of entering into a room block contract with any other area hotels.

I personally place a recommendation in for the Courtyard Marriot. It if wasn't for the bridge connecting the Westin over Penn Avenue, I'd honestly say that the Marriot was the closer of the two hotels to the convention center. :)

Yes but YOUR 100% Likely to attend many others are not, many othersin other years, shaft those of us who hold back like responsible people on reserving a room because we do not know if we are going until our workplace contract starts. They book rooms up left right and center only to cancel the day in this case a few weeks before going to a con.. Yes the deposit will help ease that but it still sucks to see thing fill up in five months before the con. I hold back because my attendance to AC is always subject to the chance I cannot go due to where my new contract ends up.. I don't get to know until April this year Maybe even May. Oi We'll just have to see.
Cons are not the be all end all of my existence anyways. Theres always another one or another try if you cant go. I think though The marriot close to the convention Center SHOULD have a room block You all know that the first two hotels fill up.
