I just registered for Furry Connection North, and you should too!

Sponsorships (aka "pimp"-level memberships) are only $50, and regular memberships for the entire convention are only $25. I would recommend a Pimp Membership though, because where else can you find a sponsor lounge that has beer?

The hotel (the Ann Arbor Best Western Executive Plaza) is very affordable, too. King rooms are available at the low price of $67/night and Double rooms are $75/night. Plus, the hotel is quite lovely. I know, I've been there before. Last year's Dorsai Thing was held there.

So how about getting there? The nearest airport is Detroit's airport (DTW). I can't speak for the rest of the country, but flying there from Philly is incredibly cheap. Like, $200 cheap if you order your tickets well in advance. Plus, since that route (PHL-DTW) isn't too popular, that means there is space in the first class cabin if you want to upgrade. I've upgraded every single time I've flown to Detroit for only $50.

tl;dr: inexpensive membership, inexpensive hotel, and an inexpensive trip. What reason is there NOT to attend Furry Connection North?

I'll see you there. :-)

Oh goody! You'll have to explain this whole Bala Cynwyd to Australia move to me. :-)

Also, I get to tell you about the whole eminent domain controversy in Ardmore!

I shall be attending as well, as it's just a two and a half hour drive for me.

a simple four hour drive , plus knowing most of the convention core staff and chairperson, you think it would be a "lock" for me.
Unfortunatly I may have 'that reason'. I've been unemployed on the skids with no income since roughly end of October 2007. That means even the meager pricings as above are tough, and with it drawing 'closer' and not 'further away'.. I'll be lucky if I can save up for Anthrocon and go at this rate. I WANT to go of course, to help support Nik, Gir, and what looks to be a very promising first-year con. I'm just sorry I have to report here in comments it's gonna be a 'longshot' if I do go.

We've already bought our sponsorships and we'll be there, with the usual party planned :-)

I would just like to add that Ann Arbor is a fantastic downtown college town. There are plenty of things to do. Huge ammounts of resturants..etc..etc..

No kidding. I'm a little jealous about all the furs living there, because I'm midway between there and Detroit and it's something of a suburban wasteland (plus hard to get anywhere without a car). Oh well - at least I'm not in Detroit.

You pretty much live where I do then. But you speak truth. Anywhere around michigan you can not get around without a car. UNTIL your in Ann Arbor downtown..you just park and walk everywhere. Its a fantastic town..one of the few places that I know that still has an arcade.

And the best part for me...?

A certain ranting gryphon gets to run around frantically putting out fires, and I get to sit back and watch!

Got badge #0001. :-)

FCN's the only furry con I don't have to fly to (although given what Northwest is charging for flights to Pittsburgh, I might just see about getting a lift).

Now I just need to find two more people to fill the room . . .

Wish I could be there but, unfortunately, FCN is the weekend RIGHT before my finals so I know I'll be incredibly busy.

[livejournal.com profile] swift_fox will be there though.

Attending the con IS pretty tempting. I marveled at the low cost when it was first announced. If I decide to go, I would drive though.

Waaait...It's two weeks after Megaplex. It may be unwise for me to try to take the time off.

I worked really hard to keep the cost low to hopefully draw in a large first year. *pokes* You want to attend you know it. ^.^

It's not about money - it's about time. I don't have any of it left to spare. If you have a time-turner or something I would love to use it so I could attend though. :)

I have this old DeLorean in the shed but unfortunently the Flux capacitor has been acting up so I dont think it will be of much use.

Only two hours south, from me, and I have a fur that lives in Ann Arbor going to college that's going too, so I have a place to stay. Woo!

What the hell? A first class upgrade for $50!? I don't think I can go this year. I've done too many cons the past couple years, and this year, am only doing three...FC (which I already did), AC, and the other FurFright in CT.

Maybe I can scrape up enough money together to go to Michigan next year.
