Mmm... tea

So, the other day at a meeting, I saw a co-worker make tea with one of these:

The way it works is that the tea steeps in the cup, and then you place it on top of a mug, triggering the value in the bottom that empties the tea. What was fun about this was watching a female co-worker freak out. She said she thought the steeper was "pissing" and that it was "so gross".

So, of course I had to get one for myself! I got a referral from that co-worker to Adagio Teas and ordered their starter set, which includes a steeper, 4 sample teas, and a full color guide to tea that talks about the history of tea, brewing styles, and more. That only cost $19. I set shipping to "ground" (the cheapest), and it arrived the very next day. Badass!

I also like the Adagio site. It has a very strong "social network" aspect to it. The co-worker who referred me is now listed as a "tea friend", and you can write reviews on products that you have ordered, as well as read others' reviews. Bonus: for each review you write, you get 50 cents off of your next order. Adagio also has a tea of the month club. Very well.

Also, now that I'm a customer, I can send out coupons for $5 off of your first order. If you're interested in getting a coupon, let me know.

Did I mention I hope to kick the coffee habit? We'll see how well this works out. :-)

Cool gadget. Since I work at home, I use a standard kettle to boil the water, and paper filter tea bags, in combination with loose tea, for brewing.

I'm a long time tea drinker (never liked the taste of coffee), so feel free to ask me about various types. My personal favorite is Darjeeling, an Indian black tea, but I keep a variety on hand.

Pissing? I'm guessing she's never watched a drip coffee maker do its thing.

I really should drink more tea. After drinking coffee all day long back when I worked at an elevator company long ago, I started limiting myself to 2, sometimes 3, cups over a 3'ish hour period at work. For a while there, I got into tea, but then kinda stopped. I dunno why.

I've been using a devices like that for quite a while now. My local tea shop (the Tea Haus) carries them.
I go through a fair amount of tea in a year, and thoroughly enjoy it.

Tea is a great drink to use to kick the coffee habit, if only because unlike coffee, it both tastes and smells good.
I tend to travel with tea so I'll bring along a couple of varieties to FCN.

I've actually been looking at that store for a bit, so a $5 coupon would probably work out for me! darkwulf@darkwulf.com would be fine to send it to, if it's an e-coupon (like everything else is these days).

you have a cow-orker that looks a tea machine and thinks about golden showers. You work for a porn company. Why am I not surprised?

I have one of those! It has never let me down, although I am also a fan of the Bodum tea press.

Adagio Teas are excellent.

See the tea episode of Good Eats with Alton Brown. He goes deep into the details of tea and how to make it...

Very interesting. I may have to get one of these for myself. I like a cup of green tea every now and then. Good luck kicking coffee Giza. I hate the stuff, but I don't think I could give it up.

For awhile, I all but had to give up coffee for a couple months when my acid reflux was raging. Now, I am drinking a bit more coffee...every other day or so, but not nearly as much as I was before. I have also replaced a lot of my coffee with tea, which is nice.
