The below video is a speech made by Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern at a gathering in her district. There were 50 people present when she went on this anti-gay rant.

She did not know she was being recorded.

This is rather frightening that there are still people in this country--elected officials at that, who think these things, and rail against homosexuality.

Of course, after looking at this slightly creepy picture of her, I think I am going to question what her realities consist of:

Sweet Jesus.

If the world were a perfect set of teeth, Sally Kern would be plaque.

...........

wow. What a cunt.

People like Sally Kern are the cancer of this country, not anyone else.

Notice she hates Islam as well. She's a bigot in general. At least she's unlikely to get elected for another term now that this is out...

I see she also uses the spurious argument that being gay is bad because gays have a higher rate of suicide. Gee, why is that? It certainly couldn't be because of discrimination or hateful attitudes from the likes of Sally Kern!

Almost makes me wonder if she belongs to or supports Westboro Baptist Church.

The sensible thing to do would be to call up Fred Phelps and ask.

The fun thing to do would be to get a phone with two lines, dial Sally on one line, Fred on another, then conference them together and let hilarity ensue.

Ah well. Time is on our side. :-)

It's sad that there are still people like that here. But at the same time, it's not surprising. I saw things like that happen time and time again in Oklahoma over the 18 years I lived there and was growing up.

But it will change, in time.

This is one of the best letters to Sally Kern that I have read regarding her speech. I hadn't seen the video you posted before and it very much so moved me as Tucker's letter had. But then I was, also, moved the first time I saw her speech... just moved in a different direction...

Oh, Giza... Belated congrats on your membership in the Dorsai Irregulars. :-)

Yes, she's Queen of the Fucktards.

Luckily the fall out from her comments have pretty much tanked her career so there is some justice.

I sincerely hope that one day the whole world will look back on primitive knee-jerk self-important hatred like hers and shudder. Some days I am ashamed of being Christian, and it's people like her who cause that feeling. Damn.

I've been thinking about this since I saw it last night. My never-to-be-humble opinion is to not meet her hate with more hate, just show her the door when election time rolls around.

And let the screen door hit her in the ass on the way out.

I think Rendell was in Pittsburgh spouting off also.

People like her are a cancer on society. Its a good thing this particular tumor is now in remission.

So, no society that embraced homosexuality lasted more than a few decades, huh?

Let us take a look at Ancient Greece, shall we? Spanning from its formation in 750 BC to the Roman Conquest of 146 BC, it lasted a whopping six centuries. Homosexuality happened to be thought of as one of the highest forms of love.

I am a better person than she is, I choose to resist my urge to jump up on a table and shout "You(Kern/Coulter/Phelps) deserve a blindfold and a cigarette!"
