Christmas presents

I generally don't buy gifts for Christmas because I never liked the concept of mandatory gift giving. I think there's something wrong with the concept that you should "show" your love for family and friends by buying them expensive presents.

My relatives know this and are cool with it, but my parents, nice folk that they are, still get me a few presents each year. (And I buy them Anthrocon memberships in return, heh!)

This is one of the presents I got this year:



It's a cool wine stopper, but every time I go for a drink, he growls at me. Guess I should have asked for catnip too...

I see where you're coming from on the gifting thing, but I happen to really like the tradition. I like to give gifts that are meaningful; if it turns out I have to spend a lot to do it, well, fine with me as long as I have the clout.

All the same, I'm glad I didn't get anything outrageous this year. Everyone seems to have toned down the materialism...
