I got mine in 4th grade, and when I got to school the first day I wore them, I remember the first thing any of the other kids said to me was "You look like a scientist, John!"
I feel like the odd one out here :P I don't mind my glasses at all. I like how they look. I don't have a dreadfully strong vision problem, so they aren't BCGs...I only need them for driving or seeing distance.
I have worn glasses since my sophmore year of high school. Though the doctor said I only really need to wear them while driving or while at work. So I don't bother with them while I'm at home.
I've noticed that my long distance vision isn't what it used to be, and if I follow my parents, I'll probably have glasses in another few years myself. Wanted to see how many folks I'd be in company with. :-)
I remember one time some friends and I were playing around with a thought experiment 'design a disease'
I came up with the idea of a pandemic to which short-sighted people were naturally immune. I figured that would leave the resulting world with a very high percentage of fans, geeks, etc.
Yes, but only my left eye has issues, and I only really need them to prevent eye strain during long hours at a computer. Seeing as this is half my life, I do end up wearing them a lot, but can at any time function without them. Just I end up with eye strain/squinting :P
I've been using LCDs nearly exclusively for over 5 years now, that's not the issue at all. I have an astigmatism, meaning my cornea isn't the curve of a perfect sphere, meaning everything near or far in my left eye is slightly out of focus all the time. Most of the time my right can compensate, but at the expense of eye strain, and when I'm tired the compensation basically fails.
I wear reading glasses for close-up work--like drawing, which I do most of the day. I started wearing them when I reached 40. Since then, my whole body has been going downhill.
Worn 'em since 2nd grade. Hate even the concept of anything touching my eyeball (you should see me being given drops...), so contacts are right out. Thought about laser surgery, but... you mean I've got to be wide awake and LOOKING while you CUT INTO MY EYEBALL?! =O.O= *whimpers*
wow... I'm surprised that there are so many of us that wear glasses regularly. I would have thought the options... Yes, sometimes & No, but I wear contacts would have higher percentiles.
I have astigmatism and a very small spherical correction. I used to be able to live without my glasses, but was more comfortable driving at night with them on.
The onset of presbyopia has me needing correction for both reading and distance. So, bifocals at least. In the end, to accomodate (optometric pun) my computer use habits, I ended up with top-of-the-line progressive lenses.
I'm wearing my glasses right now. I've been wearing them since I was 13, though switch out my glasses for my contacts when going out for the day. (Unless it's the weekend and I don't have anything to do.)

Why are you asking? Just random bored, random curiousity about your readership, or what?
