Other stuff in my life
Aug. 8th, 2003 11:50 amI figured it's about time for a post about my personal life.
On Monday, the boss got back from vacation and our new dress code took effect. After a week of this, the new dress code isn't THAT bad. In fact, it's comparable to the dress code at my previous employer. Speaking of work, I've also been VERY productive this week, and I have no idea why. Got lots of stuff launched on Monday and Tuesday. And spent Wednesday and yesterday doing some bugfixes of stuff. Right now, I'm taking a short break, waiting on my boss to give me some more access to the live system for the current bug hunt that I am on. (squish first, ask questions later, I always say!)
Also had an interesting week at home. When I was at Anthrocon,
tgeller gave me some DIMMs that his workplace got rid of. I looked through them initially and saw 32MB and 64MB chips. I actually tested them this week, and a few of the unmarked ones turned out to be 128 Megs, woo! So I did a little upgrade on my machine the other night, and went from 128 Megs of RAM to 320 Megs of RAM. (more than enough for Linux) This will give me a huge performance increase on my home machine, and I'll be able to start playing with things like TWiki on it.
I've seen a little improvement in my foot. I still limp pretty bad when I walk, but I've noticed that when I've had to walk barefoot (when I get up in the morning, for example), there's much less pain, and I can put more weight on the foot. That's definitely a sign of improvement.
And, in just a few hours, I'll be heading down to Maryland for Otakon, my first anime con. I'm looking forward to it, as I've been a casual fan of anime for many years, and have never seen what things are like at a con.
Toodles!
