So, I caved and got an iPhone

I figured it would be nice to be able to check my email on the train and use sites like TwitPic and programs like Urban Spoon when out in the city, so I took the plunge last night and got an iPhone 3G.

Since I wasn't sure how the network coverage/speed would be, or how the phone would perform, I have not yet ported over my current cellphone number. I'll do that in a week or so. In the meantime, if anyone would like the temporary number for my iPhone, just let me know.

Yay for iPhones. Soon, the thing will do everything mobile phones should do, plus all of the cool stuff it has been able to do since the 3G came out. :D A faster one is most likely going to come out in the summer, but I'm fairly certain it'll be the same thing with faster 3G and most likely a faster GPU, so it's not that bad.

Also, if you want to get rid of your iPod Touch, I'm looking for a cheap one for my boyfriend so he can develop for it. I kinda gave my iPod Touch away to my brother when I got my 3G as payment for him waiting with me overnight to get it. We're trying to get in on the App Store goldmine. :P

Actually, I'm keeping my iPod for music and video, and using my iPhone for phone and network stuff (Twitter, etc.)

I also have my iPod jailbroken, so it's my test bed. :-) Won't be jailbreaking my iPhone though, as that would void the warranty, which is kinda important to me for my phone.

Aww. Well, I got a 16 gig iPhone, so I pretty much just threw everything on that. Only having to deal with one device is nice. Of course, it's best for personal stuff. I can imagine somebody playing music off of their phone at a party and then getting a call, text, e-mail, whatever, would be annoying. :P

Technically it did, MMS messages (picture messages) are really just emails anyway, and could go to outside networks. But smartphones are way better. I switched to AT&T just because of how bad their phones and data plans sucked.

I don't know what I ever did without my iPhone. If I think that I left my iPhone at home, I break into a cold sweat. But then I feel the familiar lump in my pocket, and I am happy. :-)

Sorry to hear you go. I'll be moving to an HTC Touch Pro 2 in a short while. That, or something with a snapdragon in it.
