Is this for an album or a comic?

Last I heard, it's an evolution of Yiffstar being led by Toumal (//en.wikifur.com/wiki/Toumal) and Osfer (//en.wikifur.com/wiki/Osfer). There is some discussion over at FurRag (//www.furrag.com/smf/index.php?topic=619.0) from a year ago.

There's also a twitter account (//www.twitter.com/sofurrydev) - well, two (//twitter.com/SoFurryCum), but I hope that one is a joke.

The plan appears to be shut down Yiffstar (//www.yiffstar.com/?pid=109996) and then start up SoFurry a week later. Don't know what happens to FurRag, but the community there seems unhappy by the idea that they'll be "merged".

I remember how unhappy people were back in 2004 when Anthrocon talked about moving to Pittsburgh. Just sayin'. :-)

I bet some of them are still unhappy, too! ;-)

For the FurRag writers, it might seem more like merging Anthrocon with FOXmas - only with the sizes reversed. I'll reserve judgment until I see it in action, but given the stuff currently on Yiffstar's front page, I can understand their concerns. Even with a concerted attempt to refocus the site - including a rating system hinging on "quality" rather than popularity - they may see their work diluted.

Worth note, my major complaint with this is that I'm worried I'm not going to be able to integrate my comic / blog / twitter into it so I'll have to actively tend to it the way I do with DA / FA.

That sounds like a need in waiting: art site tender. Post X, add Y, mark it Z, hit Send and watch multiple sites update.

Yeah, I've thought about that once or twice, too. Bit of a hassle and possibly a maintenance nightmare, though - perhaps wiki-editable XML files with the upload methods?

I don't know about wiki-editable, but XML sure. I mean, if you want to establish a wiki for them, that's cool, but I'd prefer to rely on as few external services as possible with such a tool. Also, in-place files downloaded from a primary source are much less likely to be hijacked by people who want you going to their site instead of the locations defined in the files.

Still, having a publicly accessible repository is a good idea, so authors can just upload their own site-access files. Want to start posting to a new site? Just download this file for it, though it hasn't been verified by the official team yet.

That was my thought - perhaps you could use FlaggedRevisions to review "good" copies, but let people download the others as beta. There's probably an easier way to do it, but I mentioned it because that's how WikiFur's map script (//pool.wikifur.com/wiki/Convention_map_script) is done.
