Podiatrist, Saturn, $$$
Jun. 26th, 2002 08:23 pmLet's see, things that have happened the last several days, in reverse chronological order:
I went back to see the podiatrist again today. My foot hurts less, but I'm still walking with a cane. So he put a piece of moleskin underneath my inserts to keep pressure off of the affected toe, and also suggested that I soak my foot in warm water for 10 minutes, followed by icing it up for 10 minutes. He said that barring any other mishaps, I should have recovery in about 3 weeks. I might be walking around Anthrocon on a cane, but I think I can live with that.
Saturday, I took my Saturn in for 30,000 mile maintenance. Not only did that go well, but when I talked to the guy from the dealership afterwords, he mentioned that my original brakes have over 50% of their lining left! Gee, I wonder if I downshift too much? He said that I'll probably be "one of those folks who goes for 70,000 miles on one set of brakes". Hey, no complaint here!
For those who aren't aware, my parents aren't exactly rolling in money. They weren't able to help pay for my education, so they took out loans in addition to the ones that I took, and I am now paying ALL of the loans back. Expensive. Well, I got a nice letter in the mail the other day saying that one of my loans has been completely paid off. That's great, I could sure use an extra $150 a month!
