I'd guess it's regional. I'm in the UK and don't see any cheetahs, leopards or other big cats on http://www.bing.com/. Flipping back and forth through the front-page pictures using the little arrows in the bottom right corner, I see mostly landscapes, with a football pitch, some lasers, some microbes and a cave thrown in for good measure. If there's a joke about cheetahs being badly-drawn leopards, or if there are some actual badly-drawn leopards, I don't see them.
Interesting. I can understand using GeoIP for some things, such as targeting ads, but it seems silly to care about a user's location when displaying wallpaper of non-political, non-religious items.
I also don't get it. I mean, I can see how "cheetahs are badly drawn leopards" would be a joke, but who made it? Or did they actually label those as leopards?
