I had a fun weekend. I hooked up with Kagemushi on Saturday afternoon and he showed me the movie Yojimbo. Now THAT'S a movie where I can relate to the main character! He was good at what he did, a bit of a smartass, and was good at pitting warring factions against each other!
For dinner, we attend a Murder Mystery dinner at the Dave and Buster's in Philly. What was neat about this one is that there are a couple of actors who lead the theatre, but most of the "actors" are people who are pulled from the audience. Kage was one of the lucky folks selected, and he did pretty good at playing his part, except at the end where it was revealed that he was the murderer! (Death by heart medication!) In an interesting coincidence, we also bumped into FurryMUCK's CharlesdeLeRoy at Dave and Buster's. Small world. :-)
Loki (
joshvon) came up to visit late Saturday night and on Sunday morning we met up with Kage and went to the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire for the day. We saw same of the shows, such as The Looney Lucy and Ploppy show (don't ask :-) and got to do some of the other events, such axe throwing and archery. The Falconer (or whatever you call someone who trains falcons) was also there and gave a demonstration on falcon training and hunting again.
This week at work was also very eventful. We've been doing a project which involved EDI (Eletronic Data Transfer) with some other companies, my first every of this type. So I got to lead a few conference calls with people at the IT Director level of both companies and define the file format and business processes. It's the first time I ever got to do something like this, and the sales guy at our company who was on the conference call said I did a pretty good job at it, which was really cool! (I also had the pleasure of writing a wrapper for GNU Privacy Guard in PHP, which was slightly painful.)
I used up the last of my physical therapy prescription at the end of last week, and declined to continue since it wasn't doing any good for my foot. I'm not entirely sure what my next move will be. My pawdiatrist offered to do more injections of cortisone or alcohol if I like. But he seems really confused about my symptoms. The pain is close to the toes, which suggested capsulitis, but between the third and fourth toe, which suggests a neuroma. He's really really confused about it. I might see another pawdiatrist just to get another opinion about the foot, and maybe look into acupuncture, too.
Tonight, I picked up a copy of The Lion King Special Edition DVD. Now I can watch the movie as often as I like without the medium degrading. :-)
Finally, I got my hands on a picture of that tiger that yanked Roy offstage. Here it is:
