...not until the con OFFICIALLY starts, but until the Ops Office opens up on Thursday. Whee.

I'm bloody tired today... even with 2 cups of coffee. I spent the last weekend at Kage's packing up stuff for Anthrocon non-stop, then arrive home at 11 PM, checked my e-mail, and went to bed quite late.

Work the next couple of days is going to be interesting, too. I can easily finish up this project of mine by end of day Tuesday, but then when my boss comes back on Wednesday, he wants to launch it. Right before I go on vacation. Um, yeah, okay.

One thing that really saddens/disappoints me is seeing people whine, bitch, and moan about one thing or another at the con that they are unhappy with. (Other than registration, that was our screwup and we're taking steps to keep that from happening again this year) I've seen people complain about the schedule, complain about the policies, and complain about tax laws, for crying out loud!

Gee, I'm so sorry that our volunteer efforts for this con aren't good enough for you. I don't see YOU volunteering to try and help make things better. You want to help? Come down to the Con Ops office and find me, I'm sure there will be someplace or another that could use your help. But leave your attitudes at home, okay?

Concerning enjoying a con, there's a massive difference between enjoying it as an attendee and enjoying it as a staffmember. There's a lot of hard work that goes into a convention of this size, so when the people you're working your ass off for for a whole year to provide a free service come back calling for your head, it really doesn't encourage a person to continue providing said service. Especially when the demands are too frequently unreasonable.

Stick with it, Giza. If they get to you too badly, remember how much you're doing this for yourself, as much as you're doing it for them. The self-satisfaction keeps me going. :)

I have a pet theory that at any furry convention 90% of the people will have a good time, will be happy to compliment the staff and help out where they can. 5% will have a few issues but won't say anything about it. 4% will have a few issues, talk to the staff, and get them resolved in an amicable fashion. 1% will bitch, moan, and complain and there will be absolutely nothing that can be done to make them happy.

What really sucks is that it's that last 1% that sticks in your head when everything is over.

(And I'm willing to bet if we compared notes, there'd be a lot of common names on those lists :-)

I'm very grateful for those of you who put out the time and effort it takes to Make A Con Run. *snugs*

I'm looking forward to seeing you there. Take care of yourself and don't get too overworked!
