Saturday was kinda blah. I spent most of the day at the office. The one cool thing I got done was getting the Argus network capturing program up and running. Now I can figure out who is saturating the company T1 and what they are downloading.

I spent most of Sunday hanging out at my place playing Xenogears. Unfortunately, I got a bit of a surprise later in the afternoon. After a particularly difficult boss battle, the screen went blank between scenes and the game just... stopped. After some more investigation, it looks like the disk may be whacked. What a pity. I might look into one of those "disk repair kits" and see if they can help.

Later in the evening [livejournal.com profile] cyriljackal stopped by. We went out and got some dinner and drinks and must have spent upwards of an hour chatting about things. Then we headed back to my place and watched the anime known as Riding Bean. Cyril didn't seem phased by any of the blood in it, which I took to be a good thing. :-)

I read some of Breaking the Ice before going to bed last night. I read the first two stories, and like what I've seen so far.

Best of luck repairing Xenogears, I've heard good things about those kits. I had problems with it before, but they all turned out to be hardware problems with my old Playstation. If worse comes to worse, you could see about replacing the game, since it was recently re-released under Playstation's Greatest hits. Although I don't know if the packing is going to be all that hot. ^_^;

Cleaning CDs.

I should get one of those repair kits at some point; several of my CDs have scratches (see, *this* is why I want to be able to make backups of game and music CDs without hassle).

Surreal CD cleaning anecdote for the day:

  • Got Starcraft CDs as a gift from "lastmx".
  • Found that said CDs were coated with radial streaks of unidentified white crud. These CDs came from a frat house. I don't *want* to know what that crud is.
  • Cleaned the Starcraft CD with alcohol as best I could (barely adequately). Installed Starcraft on one machine (Brood War will wait).
  • Party time rolled around. CD spawn install failed on multiple machines. CD-cleaning juju didn't help.
  • Flan *licks* the CD, crud, alcohol, and all. It works. I don't want to think about this any further =o.o=.

I'll bet you a beer the next (and first) time I see you that it's either an 0wn3d Windoze box or someone running a warez server somehow.
