1) Try to install GNU Privacy Guard version 1.2.3.
2) Run the configure script.
3) Watch bash segfault when it encounters the line:
unset MAIL
Between this, regular network problems, and not being allowed to have root on our "dedicated servers", I've come to the conclucsion that Hurricane Electric's web hosting sucks. All this for only $400 a month!

I'd be happy to host your servers here at my house. Just pay me to put in the leased line, the UPS, etc :P

Date: 2003-12-18 11:48 am (UTC)Hosting is a business that works on a simple premise. We host for people who don't want to run their own systems. The only way we can guarantee we know what's going on, and so can guarantee our SLAs, if if the customer never gets enough access to do damage. The instant a customer logs on as root, we no longer have that guarantee. We also charge more for customers who want root. Like an insurance policy. The riskier you want things, the more you pay.
But for $400 a month, that is pretty good for a dedicated managed server. Though that may explain the network problems.
