My weekend was... intense. I hadn't been at the gym since the Saturday before New Year's so I went on both Saturday and Sunday. I got a good workout in on both days. Also got things cleaned up around my apartment, got vpopmail installed on my new server as well. Quite a productive weekend!

I saw this link to a philosophy consistency quiz in [livejournal.com profile] level_head's LJ. It was a VERY interesting quiz to take, and provided me with some enlightenment as to my own contradictions in philosophy. It's worth checking out.

I think LJ needs some sort of a flag for entries that contain quiz results on them. I don't know if it's just me, but I really think that most of the quiz results that I see posted to various LJ are a complete waste of time. And I *really* love it when I see 10 different people post the same quiz result at once. Oh, does that ever turn me on! I'll be happy if I never see a quiz result in LJ again.

I took this quiz some time back. Apparently I have some pretty odd views, but at least I'm consistent. I managed to escape with a minor flesh wound.

I bit 2 bullets and took 2 direct hits. What doesn't kill me makes me stronger, I guess. :-)

I bit the bullet once - and even then it was presented as an option, since it was apparently a very minor inconsistency.

Pfaugh. I made a post about the "consistency" quiz a year or so ago -- maybe I can dig it up -- ripping it into little shreds. Most of my friends got "zapped" on points of semantics that were picayune at best and easily dismissed at worst. I don't mind so much, since the quiz was a terribly interesting idea and well-executed in general... but it also took on a pretty high-handed tone, and dammit, if you're gonna pull that with me, you'd better be demonstrably and incontrovertibly RIGHT. And baby, there ain't no such thing in this crazy world. ;>

Well, it got me on one really good point. I had stated that I believed in evolution despite there being no absolute evidence of it, but did not believe in God for the same reason. Whoops!

I also saw the case for Athiesm as a "faith" because its followers believe there is no God, despite there not being absolute evidence of it, either.

That quiz made me do some serious thinking. Way more than I do on a Monday, even.

I have to admit, it did give me a hell of a chewtoy. :) Even if its reasoning for a "hit" wasn't dead-on, these days anything that makes somebody knuckle down and defend their beliefs intelligibly is OK in my book.

[*muttering cattishly, examining plastic claws*] Still kicked its BUTT... ;)

Hmm, likewise. The quiz tends to get thrown around a discussion forum I visit every now and then; last time I took it I bit one bullet [not because I was inconsistent, but because my opinions differed from those of most people; big surprise]. It's pretty cool, but there are some rather unspecific questions; it asks if god can do anything, then goes test that, but completely ignores that if you don't believe in the first place, what god can "do" just depends on the religion in question. A hypothetical being can do whatever it's defined to be able to. *g*

No hit and no bullets at all.

Apparently "People are astoundingly stupid and everything else follows from that" is a rock-solid philosophy.
