The subject line pretty much describes what last night was for me. I had what I think was my first real case of food poisoning. I foolishly ate an apple that I bought yesterday, without washing it first. As it got later into the evening, my stomach started to rumble, then hurt. I was able to sleep for a couple of hours, but I remember waking up around 2 AM and making a mad dash to the bathroom.
So yeah, that sucked.
Between that, not being able to keep fluids down, and not sleeping much, I called off of work today. Earlier in the morning, I discovered I could drink some liquids again, so I had the sodas that
omnibahumut left at my place (heh!), popped a multi-vitamin, and napped some more.
I'm feeling a whole lot better now. My fever has gone down a bit. I think I'm going to swing by Wawa shortly to pick up some clear fluids, and then maybe I'll try working my way up to Cup O' Noodles later tonight.
Here's a detailed article on food poisoning.
Also, I discovered that if you want to report suspected cases of food poisoning, you can do so by calling Philadelphia's Food Protection Office at (215) 685-7495.

Virus
Date: 2006-04-14 03:04 am (UTC)I have to agree with Uncle Kage. I had a subway BLT last October, then got seriously ill for several days, and I had never been this sick...
It was a massive stomach bug that took several of our department out for a few days...I've never in my life felt like vomiting and the runs both at the same time. You'd almost think that was just about impossible...
In any event, it passed, but the BLT left such a lingering association I will never again have a Subway BLT again, even though I know now it was never the source of the problem. Hope you feel better Giza.

Date: 2006-04-14 04:13 am (UTC)Actual food poisoning tends to be incapacitating (in the instances I have seen of it), except when you need to hurl (if you're lucky).
