Illness update
Apr. 14th, 2006 02:01 pmEarly in the evening last night, I managed to stumble the quarter mile to the local Rite Aid and pick up important things like: Gatorade, apple juice, and crackers. Oh, and NyQuil, too. I think the worst thing about this is just how exhausted it left me. Just standing up was an effort.
I did a shot of NyQuil last night and slept about 11 hours, which I think helped.
Today, I've been feeling better, and just had a bowl of soup. I was sweating profusely for awhile, then checked the thermostat and saw that it's 80(!) degrees in here. So I opened a window and turned on the fan. Of course, now the sounds of the road work right in front of my apartment are pouring in here. Of all the days to do road work... Hopefully these guys will finish up in a few hours and I'll be able to get some more napping in.
I've been doing the "pinch test" on my hand pretty regularly, and it doesn't look like I'm dehydrated, which is a good sign.
I drank some metamucil today, hopefully that'll get my digestive system back on track.
My dizziness has been a little worse while I've had this, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's just from low blood sugar, so I'm not too worried.
If anyone has any suggestions for things I should/should not eat while I recover, feel free to send them my way.

Date: 2006-04-14 06:08 pm (UTC)If you're severely dehydrated, the skin will instead have the consistency of dough, and not return to its original shape right away. When that happens, it's IV time!

Date: 2006-04-15 07:24 am (UTC)Sounds almost exactly what I had back in Sept/Oct
Date: 2006-04-15 12:07 pm (UTC)Definately not fun. I pretty much had just stayed in bed most of those three days because I felt to miserable to do much of anything else. Soups work well, that's what I lived on during that episode, and water.
Take care,
