I came up with this quote out of thin air earlier today, when someone apologized for posting something in the wrong forum:

"It helps if you think of me less as a fascist moderator, and more like a slightly inebriated tour guide."

Yeah... looks like I'm gonna have to increase my coffee dosage, since getting more sleep is right out of the question.

Bug-eyed Earl:

"My girl wanted me to get a job, so I signed up to take the bus driver's test."

"Turns out I shoulda spent some time learnin' how to drive the bus."

"Instead of practicing all week telling people to sit down."

Posting Etiquette

Speaking of, I recently got into an argument with someone on a mailing list about whether or not top-posting is ever acceptable. While I don't normally top-post, I claimed that the method has its uses and is not rude, because it's the most common form of response--so it can't be rude by default if most people agree to use it. My opponent disagreed and quoted some RFC's while I pointed to Wikipedia.

Arguing about etiquette is both stupid and funny. :)

Top-posting wouldn't be such a problem if so many mail clients didn't suck.

I'm shackled to MS LookOut! at the office and it makes quoting individual conversations nearly impossible.

One rememdy I found for dealing with top posting over on PA-Furry is to impose a 10 K limit on email messages. That kills a lot of top posting, especially when it's a reply to a digest(!) of posts.
