Why Vonage sucks
Jan. 16th, 2007 11:26 amEver try to cancel your service with them?
This guy did, and got the runaround by them.
Reading the blog does provide some amusement, though. After demanding via email that he call them on the phone a second time to cancel his account, the blogger states, "I just had tumors removed from my throat and do not have the ability to speak". That will get Vonage to cancel the service, right? Nope, "Marc L. SL" at Vonage decides that he'll do the only sensible thing: offer the blogger-with-no-vocal cords 3 free months to remain a customer. A customer that already stated they are unable to speak.
Draw your own conclusions about Vonage.

Date: 2007-01-16 05:37 pm (UTC)I've had nothing but good experiences with Vonage.
Granted, I'm likely dealing with a different division of the company than this fellow.

Date: 2007-01-16 05:55 pm (UTC)Yes I did try
Date: 2007-01-16 08:43 pm (UTC)However, to go to the end of my term, they offered to lower my plan to an unadvertised $5 no minutes plan. Well the technical issues I had with vonage were massive lag, but those went away when I got screwed over by my cable company trying to switch to their VOIP service, and got bumped into a more expensive data plan, but got twice the bandwidth. So, since the cable company hiked me, I decided against their VOIP, and oddly enough Vonage lag went away. and to top it off, their no minutes plan basically allows unlimited inbound calls, but outbound calls cost $.045 a minutes.. however.. I only use this line for my puppet show, and my alarm panel. so, I never make an outbound call unless there is an alarm, and I can get all the show call ins I want, all for $5.. which is a hell of a deal and worked out perfectly for me :>
