So, I beat Final Fantasy 7 last night...

Yes, I know the game is 10 years old. Yes, I know I'm a little behind the times to have never played it before. All things considered, I would say that the game has aged pretty well. It was still quite fun to play through, and I liked how the materia and the battle control system worked out.

Anyway, here's the limit break of the final boss, aptly called "Super Nova". You don't need to be a bigtime gamer to appreciate how awesome this is, just a background in basic astronomy and/or be a fan of science fiction:

And yes, anyone who is willing to destroy entire planets just to inflict some damage on you is just a little dedicated, no? :-)

I was so high level when I got to sepiroth that I killed him before he did this. So later I decided to just hang around and see what Sepiroth did so I stood around and guarded for a while. If you fight him long enough, he'll do this several times. Destroying the same planets over again.

The amusing part when I first saw this was watching the long sequence for the above, figuring my party was toast, only to see them barely dented (less than 1/4 hit points off), even though I'd had trouble with the journey down that last bit of the crater to the final three battles.

That's okay, It was only a few years ago that I played FF7. ^^; And I still have yet to play FF4, FF5, FF6 (started it, old school goodness) and FF8. I started FF3 (I'm not sure where the DS remake falls), I started FF10 and FF12. XD

And Super Nova was awesome. My characters were at level 99, but it still did quite a bit of damage. It actually make Cloud reach his ultimate limit break, which ended the game. (Though you can see it twice with that one on one battle at the end. ^^;)
