Have stories or photos of Furp?

[livejournal.com profile] bluedeer is visiting Furp's parents tonight. Feel free to share them in his LJ comments before then.

There is news coverage of the accident:

http://www.insidesocal.com/news247/2009/02/motorcyclist-killed-in-twentyn.html

(Newspaper got the age wrong. He was really 33.) [Edit: Nevermind, *I* got it wrong. Must have been something in my eye when I looked up his birth date...]

If anyone wishes to send anything to his parents, here's the address (courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] bluedeer):
The Reeds
5050 S Egofske Rd
New Berlin, WI 53146-4001

His LJ is set to only allow friends to reply. If we're not on his friends list, just e-mail the message?

I'll let him know.

Posted this information at Uncle Kage's and would like you to let Furp's family know as well, please - I also can't comment to bluedeer, because I am a friend of a friend, and not personally acquainted, so not on friends list.

Smiles for the Memories, smiles_4vt, is a group that I founded in honor of my friend Ross, and the 32 who were taken from us, on 4-16-07, at Virginia Tech. Furp's death resonates with me, because of Ross's. They were both terribly sudden.

We've just completed a donation in Ross's honor to Operation Smile,
www.operationsmile.org, which does cleft lip and palate repair for
children around the world. And just yesterday we received additional
funds. Then today, I heard about Furp, who was a good friend to many
of my good friends. So this week's donation from Smiles for the Memories
to Operation Smile is going out in honor of Patrick Reed, Furp. And
we will be asking Operation Smile to send the memorial card to Furp's
family, at the address you posted.

Thanks for passing the word for me, Peg aka Murrday

OMG. Furp?

It has been years since I spoke to Furp. I still have one of the USS Rushmore hats he sent us. :(

He truly will be missed.
